Description

These Soft Orange Cranberry Tea Cookies are tender, buttery, and bursting with bright orange flavor and chewy cranberries. Perfect with a warm cup of tea, they bring comfort and bakery-style goodness to every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cookies:

1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar

1/4 cup (50 g) light brown sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon fresh orange zest

2 tablespoons fresh orange juice

2 1/4 cups (280 g) all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup (120 g) dried cranberries

Optional Orange Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons fresh orange juice

1/2 teaspoon orange zest

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Add egg, vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice. Mix until combined.

4. In a separate bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.

6. Fold in dried cranberries.

7. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dough onto prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart.

8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers remain soft.

9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

10. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange zest until smooth.

11. Drizzle glaze over cooled cookies if desired and allow it to set before serving.

Notes

Do not overbake to maintain a soft texture.

Fresh orange zest provides the best citrus flavor.

Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them soft.

The glaze is optional but adds extra orange flavor.

Cookie dough can be frozen for up to 3 months.
