Description

This Rich Chocolate Pound Cake Loaf is deeply chocolatey, incredibly moist, and packed with rich cocoa flavor in every slice. Dense, buttery, and bakery-worthy, it’s the perfect dessert for serious chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chocolate Pound Cake:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup whole milk

Optional Chocolate Glaze:

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/3 cup heavy cream

Optional Garnish:

Chocolate curls

Mini chocolate chips

Powdered sugar

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and line an 8×4-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.

2. In a large mixing bowl beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 to 4 minutes.

3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

4. Mix in vanilla extract.

5. In a separate bowl whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

6. Add dry ingredients to the butter mixture alternately with sour cream and milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.

7. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

8. Transfer batter to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

9. Bake for 60 to 70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

10. Cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

11. For the glaze, heat heavy cream until steaming and pour over chocolate chips. Let sit 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.

12. Drizzle glaze over cooled cake and garnish as desired.

13. Slice and serve.

Notes

Use high-quality cocoa powder for the richest chocolate flavor.

Do not overbake or the cake may become dry.

Allow the loaf to cool completely before glazing.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.

Freeze individual slices for up to 3 months.
