Description

These Oatmeal Fudge Bars have a chewy oat crust, rich fudge center, and crumbly oat topping. A classic American dessert, perfect for gatherings or a sweet treat anytime.


Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups brown sugar, packed

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 ½ cups old-fashioned rolled oats

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ teaspoon salt


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 baking pan.

2. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, then dry ingredients. Reserve ⅓ mixture.

3. Press ⅔ mixture into pan. Bake 10 minutes.

4. Melt condensed milk, chocolate, butter, vanilla, and salt. Stir until smooth.

5. Spread fudge over crust. Crumble reserved oat mixture on top.

6. Bake 25–30 minutes until golden.

7. Cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Cool bars completely before slicing for neat squares.

Add nuts or peanut butter for variations.

Freezes well for up to 2 months.
