Description

This Honey Bun Pound Cake is rich, buttery, and incredibly moist with beautiful cinnamon sugar swirls throughout every slice. Finished with a sweet vanilla glaze that melts into the warm cake, it’s an old-fashioned bakery-style dessert that’s perfect for brunch, holidays, coffee breaks, or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Pound Cake:

3 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 cup sour cream

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon Swirl:

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

For the Honey Glaze:

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

2 tablespoons honey

2 to 3 tablespoons milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch Bundt pan.

2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.

3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

5. Mix in the vanilla extract and sour cream until smooth.

6. Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

7. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon.

8. Spread half of the batter into the prepared Bundt pan, sprinkle with half of the cinnamon sugar mixture, then repeat with the remaining batter and cinnamon sugar.

9. Use a butter knife to gently swirl the cinnamon mixture through the batter.

10. Bake for 60 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

11. Cool in the pan for 15 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack.

12. Whisk together the powdered sugar, honey, milk, and vanilla until smooth, then drizzle over the cooled cake before serving.

Notes

Use room-temperature butter, eggs, and sour cream for the smoothest batter.

Do not overmix after adding the flour to keep the cake tender.

Allow the cake to cool slightly before glazing so the icing gently soaks into the cake.

Store covered at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 1 week.

Freeze individual slices for up to 3 months.
