Description
This moist and spiced Homemade Applesauce Bread is an easy, comforting bake perfect for any season.
Ingredients
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
2. Whisk applesauce, sugars, oil, eggs, and vanilla together.
3. Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
4. Mix wet and dry ingredients just until combined; fold in walnuts.
5. Pour into loaf pan; bake 45–55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
6. Cool completely before slicing.
Notes
You can substitute half the flour with whole wheat for a heartier loaf.
This bread freezes beautifully for up to 3 months.
