Description
This ultimate homemade almond kringle is flaky, buttery, and filled with rich almond flavor, finished with a sweet vanilla glaze.
Ingredients
Pastry dough:
2.5 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 cup cold unsalted butter
0.5 cup ice-cold water
Almond filling:
1 cup almond flour
0.5 cup sugar
0.25 cup unsalted butter
1 large egg
1 tsp almond extract
0.5 tsp vanilla extract
Glaze:
1.5 cups powdered sugar
2–3 tbsp milk
0.5 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Mix flour and salt.
2. Cut in cold butter until pea-sized.
3. Add ice water to form dough and chill.
4. Prepare almond filling.
5. Roll dough and spread filling.
6. Fold and shape into oval.
7. Bake at 375°F for 25–30 minutes.
8. Mix glaze and drizzle over warm kringle.
Notes
Keep butter very cold.
Chill dough if it softens.
Glaze while warm for best finish.
