Description

Rich and moist Guinness chocolate cake made with stout beer to enhance the deep chocolate flavor.


Ingredients

Scale

1 cup Guinness stout

1 cup unsalted butter

3/4 cup cocoa powder

2 cups all purpose flour

2 cups sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 eggs

2/3 cup sour cream

8 oz cream cheese

1/2 cup butter

3 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two cake pans

2. Heat stout and butter until melted then whisk in cocoa powder

3. Mix flour sugar baking soda and salt

4. Combine eggs and sour cream then add chocolate mixture

5. Combine wet and dry ingredients

6. Divide batter between pans

7. Bake 30-35 minutes until done

8. Cool and frost cake

Notes

Use high quality cocoa powder for best flavor

Allow cake to cool fully before frosting

Cake layers can be baked ahead and refrigerated
