Description

A rich, silky baked custard cake with a creamy cheesecake-like texture made from simple pantry ingredients. Perfect served chilled with fresh berries or whipped cream.


Ingredients

Scale

4 large eggs

1 cup granulated sugar

2 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

4 tablespoons melted butter

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C) and grease a 9-inch cake pan.

2. Whisk eggs and sugar until pale.

3. Add milk, cream, melted butter, vanilla, and salt.

4. Gradually whisk in flour until smooth.

5. Strain the batter if desired for an extra silky texture.

6. Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 50 to 60 minutes until lightly golden with a slight jiggle in the center.

7. Cool completely and refrigerate for at least 3 hours before serving.

Notes

Do not overbake.

Best served chilled.

Fresh berries make the perfect topping.
