Description

These Chocolate Hazelnut Swirl Muffins are soft, fluffy, and filled with rich ribbons of chocolate-hazelnut goodness. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, snacks, or dessert, every bite tastes like a bakery-style treat fresh from the oven.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

2/3 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 cup milk

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate Hazelnut Swirl:

1/2 cup chocolate-hazelnut spread

Optional Topping:

2 tablespoons chopped hazelnuts

2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips

Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners.

2. In a large bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

3. In another bowl whisk eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.

4. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.

5. Divide batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.

6. Add about 2 teaspoons of chocolate-hazelnut spread to the top of each muffin.

7. Use a toothpick or skewer to gently swirl the chocolate-hazelnut spread into the batter.

8. Sprinkle with chopped hazelnuts or mini chocolate chips if desired.

9. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes or until the tops are lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

10. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

11. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Do not overmix the batter to keep the muffins soft and fluffy.

Warm the chocolate-hazelnut spread slightly if it is too thick to swirl.

Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature.

Freeze for up to 3 months.

Delicious served warm with coffee or hot chocolate.
