Description
This Brown Butter Banana Walnut Bread is rich, nutty, and incredibly moist. Made with deeply flavored browned butter, ripe bananas, warm cinnamon, and crunchy walnuts, it’s a cozy upgrade to classic banana bread.
Ingredients
3 very ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, browned
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
2. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat and cook until golden brown with a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
3. In a large bowl, mash bananas until smooth.
4. Whisk browned butter and brown sugar into the mashed bananas until combined.
5. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
6. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
7. Gently fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
8. Fold in chopped walnuts.
9. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
10. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
11. Allow bread to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use very ripe bananas for maximum sweetness and moisture.
Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread tender.
Toast walnuts before adding for extra flavor.
Store tightly wrapped at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
