Moist banana chocolate chip cake with warm cinnamon spice and creamy chocolate frosting — perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
2¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
¼ cup vegetable oil
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup packed brown sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
3 large eggs
1¼ cups mashed ripe bananas
1½ cups buttermilk
1 cup mini chocolate chips
¾ cup unsalted butter (frosting)
3 cups powdered sugar
½ cup cocoa powder
¼ tsp salt
½ cup heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare pan.
2. Whisk dry ingredients together.
3. Cream butter, oil, and sugars.
4. Add eggs and vanilla.
5. Mix in bananas.
6. Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk.
7. Fold in chocolate chips.
8. Bake 35–40 minutes until set.
9. Cool completely and frost.
Notes
Use very ripe bananas.
Mini chips distribute evenly.
Great as a layer cake or cupcakes.
