Ingredients
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 medium apples, peeled and diced
3 large eggs
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
2. Brown the butter and cool slightly.
3. Whisk eggs, sugar, and vanilla.
4. Add brown butter, milk, and cream.
5. Whisk in flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
6. Fold in diced apples.
7. Pour into prepared dish.
8. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes.
9. Cool completely.
10. Slice into squares and serve.
Notes
Watch brown butter carefully to avoid burning.
Use firm apples for best texture.
