Description
A warm, fragrant Persian Date Cake made with cinnamon, cardamom, and naturally sweetened dates—perfect for tea time or special gatherings.
Ingredients
1 ½ cups dates, pitted and chopped
1 cup boiling water
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground cardamom
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup milk
Instructions
1. Combine dates, boiling water, and baking soda. Let sit 10 minutes.
2. Whisk flour, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt together.
3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.
4. Stir in softened dates.
5. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Mix gently.
6. Pour into a greased 9-inch pan. Bake at 350°F for 30–35 minutes.
Notes
For richer flavor, add chopped walnuts or pistachios.
This cake pairs beautifully with mint tea or a drizzle of honey.
