Ingredients

1 cup boiling water

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt


Instructions

1. Pour boiling water over dates and stir in baking soda. Let sit 10โ€“15 minutes.

2. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.

3. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.

4. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.

5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and date mixture to batter.

6. Fold in nuts.
