Description
Matilda’s Chocolate Cake that is rich, moist, and topped with creamy chocolate fudge frosting.
Ingredients
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup warm water
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup butter
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup cream
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Mix dry ingredients.
3. Add wet ingredients.
4. Mix until smooth.
5. Bake 30–35 minutes.
6. Cool completely.
7. Make frosting.
8. Frost cake and serve.
Notes
Do not overbake.
Use room temperature ingredients.
Add espresso powder for flavor.
Store covered.
