Description
These Greek Almond Cookies (Amigdalota) are crisp on the outside, chewy in the center, and infused with fresh orange zest. Naturally gluten-free and perfect with coffee or tea.
Ingredients
3 cups almond flour
¾ cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon fresh orange zest
¼ teaspoon salt
3 large egg whites, lightly beaten
1 cup sliced almonds
½ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Mix almond flour, sugar, orange zest, and salt in a bowl.
3. Add egg whites and almond extract; stir until a thick dough forms.
4. Scoop dough into balls and roll in sliced almonds.
5. Place on baking sheet and slightly flatten.
6. Bake 15–18 minutes until lightly golden.
7. Cool completely before serving.
Notes
Use fine almond flour.
Do not overbake.
Store in airtight container for freshness.
Dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.
