Buttery classic scones that are golden outside and soft inside. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or afternoon tea.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup cold butter cubed
3/4 cup milk
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup raisins or chocolate chips optional
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F
2. Mix flour sugar baking powder and salt
3. Cut in cold butter until crumbly
4. Whisk milk egg and vanilla
5. Combine wet and dry ingredients
6. Shape dough and cut into wedges
7. Bake 15 to 18 minutes until golden
Notes
Use cold butter for flaky texture
Do not overmix the dough
Serve warm with jam or clotted cream
