This easy cheese bread is soft, fluffy, and packed with cheesy goodness! Made with cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan, this savory quick bread is bursting with flavor, with hints of garlic and herbs in every bite. No yeast, no kneading—just mix, bake, and enjoy! Perfect as a side for soups, salads, or a delicious snack on its own.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, garlic powder, oregano, and thyme.
  • Stir in the cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses, ensuring they are evenly coated with the flour mixture.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, melted butter, and eggs until smooth.
  • Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined—do not overmix.
  • Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Don’t overmix the batter—a few lumps are fine! Overmixing can make the bread dense.
  • For a crispier crust, brush the top with melted butter before baking.
  • Want extra flavor? Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little heat!
  • No buttermilk? Make a quick substitute by mixing 1 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar and letting it sit for 5 minutes.
  • Storage: Keep at room temperature for 3 days, refrigerate for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
