Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Mix in vanilla extract and milk until smooth.
4. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
5. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until dough forms.
6. Roll dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place on baking sheet.
7. Press each ball with a fork or cookie press to create a washboard pattern.
8. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are slightly golden.
9. Allow cookies to cool on sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to rack.
Notes
Use a fork dipped in sugar to press cookies for a non-stick washboard pattern.
Store baked cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
