Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Add-Ins & Toppings:

  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Orange glaze (powdered sugar + orange juice)
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (walnuts or almonds)
  • ½ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat & Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • Cream Butter & Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Add Eggs & Flavor: Mix in the eggs one at a time, followed by the orange zest and vanilla extract.
  • Combine Wet & Dry Ingredients: Alternately add the flour mixture and the orange juice + milk, mixing gently after each addition.
  • Bake: Pour the batter into the pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  • Cool & Serve: Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with an orange glaze. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For Dairy-Free: Use plant-based butter and almond or oat milk.
  • For Extra Moisture: Add 2 tablespoons of Greek yogurt to the batter.
  • For a Stronger Orange Flavor: Use blood orange juice for a deeper citrus taste.
  • Storage: Keeps 3 days at room temp, 1 week in the fridge, or 3 months frozen
