Description

A moist and tender date and orange almond loaf sweetened with fruit and brown sugar. Finished with a citrus glaze and perfect for cozy breakfasts or gifts.


Ingredients

Scale

150g chopped dates
180ml orange juice
1/2 tsp baking soda
115g butter
100g brown sugar
2 eggs
Zest of 1 orange
1 tsp vanilla
100g almond flour
100g all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
60g sliced almonds
Optional Glaze:
60g powdered sugar
1–2 tbsp orange juice
Zest for garnish


Instructions

  • Simmer dates and juice, stir in soda, let cool.

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line loaf pan.

  • Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs, zest, vanilla.

  • Mix flours, powder, salt, and cinnamon. Combine wet and dry.

  • Fold in date mixture and almonds. Pour into pan, top with extra almonds.

  • Bake 40–50 mins. Cool, then glaze if using.

Notes

For extra richness, use orange blossom honey in the glaze. Toast almonds for more flavor.
