  • Author: Poulef
  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 1 loaf (8-10 slices) 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

This Cinnamon Donut Bread is soft, fluffy, and coated in a sweet cinnamon sugar topping, just like your favorite classic donuts! No frying needed—this easy-to-make loaf is perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a cozy snack. It’s buttery, warmly spiced, and absolutely irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Bread

  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and lightly flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • Mix wet ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together warm milk, melted butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract.
  • Combine dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  • Make the batter. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Bake. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool and coat. Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Brush the warm bread with melted butter, then roll or sprinkle it in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  • Slice and enjoy! Let the coating set before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use warm, not hot milk to avoid affecting the bread’s texture.
  • Do not overmix the batter—stir just until combined for a fluffy loaf.
  • For an extra cinnamon kick, add an additional teaspoon of cinnamon to the batter.
  • Brush the melted butter on while the loaf is warm so the cinnamon sugar sticks better.
  • Store at room temperature for up to 3 days, in the fridge for a week, or freeze slices for up to 3 months.
