- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter or non-stick spray
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant
- Pour in milk and heavy cream, stirring to combine. Gradually add 1 ½ cups of shredded cheddar cheese, whisking until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper
- Arrange half of the sliced potatoes in an even layer in the greased baking dish. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes. Repeat with the remaining potatoes and cheese sauce
- Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of cheddar cheese on top. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes
- Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly
- Let the dish sit for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow the sauce to thicken. Enjoy!

- For the best texture, use Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes – they hold their shape and absorb the sauce beautifully
